With over 40 years in the professional hair care industry, Terry Shannon has worn many hats—and likely pulled a few practical jokes while doing so. From salon consultant to sales manager, distributor manager to general manager, and even business development manager for some of the industry’s top brands, he’s truly done it all (with a laugh, a coffee, and a great playlist playing in the background). 

Born and raised in the laid-back beauty of Vancouver, British Columbia, he’s always been guided by strong values and a sense of humor inherited from his father. As a teenager, he helped clean up one of the first oil spills on the BC coast—a pivotal experience that sparked a lifelong commitment to environmental responsibility. That same sense of purpose was nurtured by his incredible mother, a caring war bride who instilled in him a deep empathy for those facing the various challenges that are bestowed upon them, whether it be physical or mental. 

Over the years, Terry has developed a reputation for bringing heart and hustle to everything he touches. He’s been recognized time and again by both colleagues and customers for his exceptional performance, sharp instincts, and authentic approach. He even turned his passion for clean beauty into innovation, creating a natural dandruff shampoo using a pomegranate-derived formula—kicking carcinogens to the curb with a smile. 

But it’s not all business. He believes deeply in giving back and having fun along the way. Under his leadership, in previous roles he has supported causes close to the heart—women’s shelters, school breakfast programs, and SickKids Hospital—because great businesses care about more than just the bottom line. 

These days, when he's not talking product strategy or working with co-op members, you’ll likely find him laughing with friends, turning up some great music, and reminding everyone that success should be celebrated, not stressed over. 

This blend of real-world know-how, people-first values, and a seriously good sense of humor is the soul of our co-op.
