Edward Burtynsky
Edward Burtynsky, a celebrated Canadian photographer of Ukrainian heritage, is renowned for his compelling exploration of humanity’s impact on the natural world through industrial landscapes. Born in 1955 in St. Catharines, Ontario, his work is inspired by the industrial scenes of his hometown. A graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University, he remains actively engaged with his alma mater and the broader art community. His acclaimed exhibitions, including Anthropocene and Oil, have toured globally, and his images are featured in prominent publications like National Geographic and The New Yorker. Among his many honors are the TED Prize and Officer of the Order of Canada. Through his photography, lectures, and initiatives like Toronto Image Works, Burtynsky continues to shape the dialogue on environmental and industrial interconnectivity.
